No.21 York is situated in a beautiful conservation area of St.Mary’s, York and our home is almost two centuries old. Thankfully every effort has been taken to preserve its original character. Many of our rooms feature grand high ceilings and original cornicing - with the odd creaky floorboard too! Built circa 1840 the B&B is a Victorian Terrace that has a history of offering lodging accommodation to guests since 1939 when "Grandma Nobby" - aka Mrs Ella Kathleen Warneford - took in lodgers during and after the War. It was converted into Bed and Breakfast in March 1962 when Mrs. J.P. Morcome opened her home to travellers to the city as Morcome Guest House, we will continue in this tradition of offering homely hospitality in some of the finest bed and breakfast accommodation in York. Part of our ethos is that we support our local partners sourcing all of our produce & services – wherever possible – from within a 20 mile radius of York which includes all of the trades and materials used in the refurbishment.
